Day 16

I've never been so excited & so scared at the same time.
New York City.... Here come the Teitzel's!!!

We found a bus station in the same parking lot that we stayed the night in last night and took it to NYC for super cheap! In fact the toll to get into the city cost more than all of our bus fare combined!!
We were even more excited when it pulled up and we discovered that it wasn't a normal city bus, it was a nice tour style bus!
We got dropped off at port authority right downtown Times Square.
We didn't spend long on the street before we had tour guides hounding us. Two women from two companies started fighting over us, the girls thought it was extremely entertaining. The result? A deal we could afford and couldn't pass up.
Sooooo, we spent the majority of the day touring NYC up top of a roofless double decker bus with an extremely informative tour guide. Ellis island is currently closed to the public, but we were able to take the Staten Island ferry (for free) and get out to see Lady Liberty.
We did take a short walking trip, trying to see some of the 9/11 memorial (open by reservation only). It wouldn't be right without NYC street food (i had a pretzel, they had hotdogs).
I don't know what it is, but public transit is so confusing... We got lost in port authority trying to find the bus back. I'm glad we can visit and experience, never to have to return.
We are headed to Hersey, PA to stay the night, planning on visiting the chocolate factory tomorrow. Trying to kill some time until I hear if we can spend more time with dad or not. I have SO many pictures to post, once I get to a place with wifi.
